Hello all,

The Beta Test is nearly over, but you can carry your E&B characters over into the commercial service as part of the Founders Federation program.

Get ready, Earth & Beyond will begin shipping to stores on Tuesday September 24th!

We've made several additions, modifications and important bug fixes in today's patch:

We've taken a look at the experience debt accrued on incapacitation and decided to cut that debt in half.
We've fixed a bug with the wormhole skill that was causing all items with a quality rating to be damaged when being taken through a wormhole. Now only trade goods are affected (which was our original intent).
We've fixed a bug that was causing system generated text to queue incorrectly, making it appear that an experience debt was increasing when it was in fact decreasing.
We've fixed a bug that allowed incapacitated ships to be Jumpstarted multiple times for a cumulative effect on the reduction of experience debt. (oops!)
We've managed to squeeze a handful of new features too!
The first addition allows you to stretch your chat window verticallly to customize the number of lines you wish to see at any given time. You also will notice a secondary window has been added to capture system generated messages and seperate them visually from chat. You can move the secondary window to two different locations on your screen, either to the side of the chat window or above the chat window. You have the option of retaining the old style single chat window or using either of the two dual chat window configurations by toggling through the options (click on the top right-hand button on the interace to select your preferrred view). You can close chat entirely by right-clicking on the toggle button or restore a resized chat window to its default size by right clicking the resize buttons. We're very interested in your feedback on more interface modifications that you'd like to see us pursue post-live.

We've also created a new "Captain's Log" that is available to you to record and view notes while you play Earth & Beyond. You can access your log by selecting the Help tab on the chat interface and then choosing Captain's Log. There are lots of pages available to you in your journal and you can select between the pages by using either a Next/Previous page button or by typing the page number directly into the interface to skip to the page you wish to use.

Skill giver information is now provided in your skills list interface. If you don't have a skill yet, the description tells you when and where to acquire it. This should help out with all of those questions about where to go to get skills. We've added a new toggle button in the galaxy view of the navigation map that lets you reveal the entire map or just see the sectors adjacent to areas you've already explored. Be sure to visit the Inter-Galactic News terminals in starbases to check out the updated content, which includes information about skills, sectors, starbase locations, and the new guild webpages.

Lastly, we've added defensive turrets to many starbases and gates to protect players from mobs which have taken up residence in those areas and are proving to be a nuisance to travelers.

The Earth & Beyond website got a face-lift too! You'll see revisions in several places, included improved message board readability and functionality (Community -> Forums), changes to the "expert" version of the homepage, and the addition of our first iteration of guild pages (Guilds from the main navigation). Guild leaders should start getting guild logo's uploaded to us, as well as posting news stories (go to your guild page and choose Administrate from the menu at the top of the page). We're still working through a few bugs but are eager for your thoughts and feedback.

P.S. Vendor shortcut keys were actually integrated with last patch but we forgot to mention them at that time! Now you can quickly sell items and stacks of items without using the confirmation box. Be careful that you mean to sell though!

Added keyboard shortcuts to speed up vendor transactions. Shift-clicking and Ctrl-clicking items in your Inventory will now sell an entire stack or single unit, respectively, in a single click. Shift-clicking and Ctrl-clicking items in a Vendor's list will now purchase an entire stack or single unit, respectively, in a single click.


Modifications

Modified (reduced) the experience debt accrued upon incapacitation by 50%.
Modified the starmap label toggle to now allow toggling between showing the whole galaxy map or only areas that you have explored.
Modified the Skills List interface to provide skill giver information.
Modified (made much more friendly) the message received when the password or account name are incorrect during login.
Modified (improved) the ease of clicking on a vendor when it is overcrowded with other players.
Modified (changed) Tovar Maxe's position in Arx Prima Blue and Green to match his new position in Arx Prima Red.
Modified (changed) Relk Goodspeed's (Asteroid Belt Alpha) dialogue.


Fixes

Fixed a bug with the wormhole skill that was causing items other than trade goods to degrade. Now, only trade good quality should be affected by the use of wormholes.
Fixed a bug that allowed incapacitated players to be jumpstarted multiple times.
Fixed a bug with the Shield Inversion skill that made players invulnerable to attack.
Fixed a bug with the Level 7 Jumpstart skill which wasn't mitigating experience debt correctly.
Fixed an issue with message line queuing where if you got many instances of XP, you would see the messages in reverse order and it would appear that your XP Debt was increasing.
Fixed some minor bugs relating to skill visuals.
Fixed a bug where zooming while warping in ship equip screen caused the ship to disappear.
Fixed a bug relating to aggro distances and difficulty in hitting certain mobs.
Fixed a bug where Red Spindles were not spawning in Yokan Sector for the mission to kill Red Spindles.
Fixed a bug with the Red Dragon Informant in Asteroid Belt Alpha which prevented it from being Befriended as part of the Befriend skill quest.
Fixed a bug that occurred when a player was on step 1 of The Third Inspiration (part of the Jenquai Promotion Bonus series) that caused the Red Dragon Research Vessel (Asteroid Belt Beta) to fail to spawn its dialogue.
Fixed a bug where, if player had forfeited the "Tell Dumont You've Covered For Him" mission but still returned to Dumont ben Joseph (Swooping Eagle sector) and told him that they had lied to Ayam for him, Dumont's dialogue would attempt to complete the mission and would result in a bug message.
Fixed a bug in Ayako Ravenlock dialogue (Paren Station, Kailaasa), where, if player had a full inventory and had stored the Diagnostic Device in Vault, Ayako was unable to give the Ancient Device back. Also added conditions at beginning of Ayako's dialogue so that she checks for the presence of Merjan's mission and responds accordingly.
Fixed a bug where Laurel Provum talked to non-Progen about her Sabura genesis mission (even though non-Progen can't get the mission).
Fixed a bug where players could not get the trade button on their first meeting with Hakem Omaor, the trade goods vendor in Inverness Down.
